Timo Buchner – VFX Producer & Supervisor

I'm Timo Buchner, a VFX producer and supervisor. I've worked in visual effects production since 2006 – for film, streaming and high-end commercials. I come in early, plan VFX so it lands seamlessly in the finish – and I take on projects the same way when the material already exists and needs to be finished in post. I get involved early in productions, plan VFX so that it integrates seamlessly into the final cut—and I also take on projects where the footage already exists and needs to be finalized in post-production.

The real problem is rarely the talent

Most VFX budgets don't blow up because of the effects. They blow up because VFX enters the conversation too late — when locations, shoot dates and plates are already locked, and costly rework is the only option left. That's where I work: early planning, realistic budgeting, clear approval chains, supervision through delivery. Where the material already exists, that same care shifts into post – same precision, different starting point.

With me, there’s no account manager and no chain of command. You’ll work directly with me from the initial inquiry through to final approval. I consult, plan, and get my own hands involved — I’m proficient in all aspects of my field, which is why I can realistically assess on set what a shot can deliver and what can be salvaged in post-production. For a single, clearly defined task, I’ll bring in a senior professional from my network if needed — never as a permanent crew member, always on a project-by-project basis and transparently disclosed.
